Help to test shifting tip.
Ok guys here's one that don't make sense but is working for me.
About a month ago I read a tip on the 993 forum about leaving the car in 2nd gear when parked.......to miraculously help with cold shifting. Can't remember where or who exactly but he seemed so convinced that I thought "what would it hurt to try?" A month into it, my shifting is noticeably better. I used to have the loudest metalic crunch 2-3 shift (synchros going in 3rd), a slow 1-2 shift and a very baulky 1st. Over the last 3 days the crunch into 3rd is now a faint click, 1-2 is a hint faster and 1st will hesitate but I can get it on the 2nd try if it baulks unlike previously where 3 or 4 goes where needed. Now I'm more inclined to think it is the Swepco bedding into the gears that's actually doing the magic deed (it is now 3000mls since I replaced the trans fluid with the blue liquid). That and I've trained myself to be a more compassionate shifter. I've slowed my hand movements and I routinely double declutch in all downshifts since my 3rd synchro started to go. But still who knows, maybe some of you guys could try leaving the car in 2nd when parked and let me know? Simon

I'll give it a whirl...1st is usually difficult until my 915 warms up.
Like you said it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that this would work, but 2 testers are better than 1 I guess!

It took almost a fortnight before I noticed anything so I'll hear back from you in April....
