SC brake upgrade choices....

I have been thinking about doing a brake upgrade on my SC. After reading (many) posts about this subject, I still have a couple of questions. First of all, I have 16" Fuchs wheels on my car and intend to keep them which puts some limitations on the choices available to me. Also, my car is a daily driver/weekend fun car (no track time involved) so at least part of this change will be for cosmetic purposes.

For the fronts:
Boxster calipers w/ new thicker drilled rotors

For the rears:
A) Carrera rear calipers w/ new Carrera drilled rotors
(advantage is the thicker rotor).
B) Keep the original SC calipers w/ new stock drilled rotors
(same size pad as the Carrera rotor, but less heat dispersion).
C) Build an adapter and move the front SC calipers to the rear
of the car w/ new stock drilled rotors. (advantage is larger pad
surface area but rotor is stock thickness).
D) Build an adapter and use stock front Carrera calipers on the
rear w/ thicker Carrera rotors (larger pads and thicker rotor).

The master cylinder on my car is nearly new and I would prefer to not have to change it out as part of this upgrade.

So what is the considered wisdom of the members of this most excellent BB?

But I don't think you can use rotors any thicker than Carreras. My Carrera rotors barely fit between the pads.

You can find plenty of pics on the board showing more inspiring and more effective brake upgrades but they are more expensive too.

Just switch to Carrera brakes. Cheap, easy, tested. As long as your not a track crazy addict, they will due just fine.

Agreed, you will spend <10% of the $ for Boxter fronts and get >99% of the benefit.

Spend a little more on good pads, fluid, and ducts to cool the rotors.

You do not want to change the rear brakes at all w/ the Carrera fronts installed, nor will you need to change m/c

My plan (at this point) is to buy a set of Boxster calipers from a recyling yard and buy a set of rebuilt Carrera rear calipers. The new parts (rotors and pads) will come from our host. Based on prices that I have seen posted and some that I have actually checked on, I think I can do the entire job for about a grand or maybe a little less. That is a lot of $$$, but at least the entire brake system would be (nearly) new. Plus I would have the billet style Boxster front caliper with the "Porsche" script on them. Bling, Bling!

I would say what ever you can bargain them for. I sold my complete set and rotors for about $300. Most people that have upgraded have them laying around and will just about give them away.
