What are the differences between the '91-'93 3.3 turbo and the '94 3.6 turbo. Is it only displacement and larger intercooler? I love the look of the 965 and will be in the market soon. Besides power, is one better than the other? Thanks.

The 1994 3.6 Turbo has a slightly bigger displacement, big reds and speedlines 18" wheels. The 1994 3.4 T also has more Power 354 vs 320 with little more torque in th elower rpm.
You can very easily upgrade the power of 3.3 to that of 3.6 with simple bolt ons ( Headers, exhaust and a 1 bar boost spring..$3000) vs paying $15-20,000 more for a 3.4 T... Hope that helps.. Last edited by yasir; 04-02-2006 at 07:47 PM.. |

It'd be hard to justify the extra expense of the Turbo 3.6 compared to the 3.3 Turbo.
The Turbo 3.6 is rarer and was produced in limited numbers, therefore they are more desirable, but as Yasir said, you can easily get and exceed the HP output with simple bolt-on mods whilst retaining reliablity of the 3.3 platform. I believe they both had the same intercooler though.

So would it be safe to say one is not more stout than the other. I assume they didn't do anything to "beef up" the motor for strength. I plan on many bolt on power mods for the motor. I just want to start with a good platform. Thanks again for the responces.

Like they all say, buy the newest you can afford as each year brought about improvements in power, braking, handling etc... At the end of the day, it depends on your budget and what you're willing to pay for a base platform.
$20k extra for the 3.6 is kinda steep IMHO. You'd spend a quarter of that in bolt-on mods and have significantly more HP in the 3.3 platform ![]()
