It's best they don't know what it is... if they did you would have to peek over the crowd of people around it to se it.
as it is you can get great pics and get a good look at it. with NO crowds....

Hell if it were mine I'd tell people it WAS a kitcar just to keep the crowds away from it...

Wow, I guess we should have stayed round to hear it leave.

Crap, it's probably worth more than the C-GT in their showroom. I wonder if they would let the 904 park in the front of the dealership?

He must be a trusting type person and sees the best in people cause that car wasn't locked and as you can see in one of those pics that I took the window was open. I drove my '85 that's worth pennies compared to that and I locked it. I've had too many things stolen out of my cars in the past. Not to mention I almost lost my DD once to thieves. If it was my car it would have been locked. That club does him no good sitting on the floor like that.

When I was looking at it I really didn't know what I was looking at until this thread. To be honest I kept saying in the back of my head it's just another kit car. But I'm glad I stopped to look at it and take some pics.

I think Alex brought that 904 to a RSR Ferry Porsche Birthday get-together we had last year. It IS real and a very sweet car. The exhaust tone as he left the party was great to hear.

The 904 was delivered in an amazing variety of configurations. The factory made 4, 6 and 8 cylinder versions. (Not very many 8s though.)

I think the silver 904 is one of Chuck Beck's reproductions. I think recognize the guy in the blue driving suit. I think he is the guy that owns the blue 904 that Chuck used as the basis of his 904 project.

BTW- That blue 904 was an interesting piece. It was refurbed by Porsche to be Ferry Porsche's personal car. Fun details included leather everything. (headliner, window pillars, etc) The bottom of the doors are higher too so they will clear curbs.

The silver 904 is one of Technic Motorsport's replicas - built by Barrie Martin (here in the UK) the guy in the blue race suit.

The car took part in the 2000 Carrera PanAmericana (fitted with an Andial 906-spec 2 litre engine) & then again in 2002 with Barrie co-driving (when I guess the photos were taken).

Yeah I have spoken with alex a few times. He bought the car in the early 70s for I think He told me 6,000 bucks. He has owned it ever since. We were going to get together to do an exhaust for the car but I have not heard from him in a while. I know he is very busy and a very nice guy. He welcomes all questions. Oh and it is real

Beck the guy that designed one of if not the first 550 replica also did a 904 Replica recently. He sold his design, a tube frame one , to Avanti which went up for sale. This could be the same design that Thunder Ranch is selling considering the 550 they sell is the old Beck design.

here is one original 906-6 GTS for only $750,000.00

Dear Mr. Anzures,

Thank you for your email. I have one Porsche 904/6 GTP for sale , this is not a conversion. It is one of only four factory prototypes existing today. All four of these cars were handled by us. In the last year’s two of them were sold, one (906012) for $850,000 to Sir Lord Laidlaw in England and one (906001) for $1,100,000 to Mr. Klaus Frers Germany. The car I am currently offering is competition ready and historically correct in every detail. The price for this car is $750,000 USD and 5% Commision. If you have interest on this car or on a regular 904 GTS please contact me.

Best Regards,

Heinz Heinrich

The crash test car was indeed a factory 904/6. 906-005 is the chassis number. Sold to Dramm, 911 engine, 2200cc. Sold to Morgan. 1972: for sale $12500. 1991: Valerio. Last known whereabouts... unknown, to my knowledge.

This is taken from the Truth and Rumours 904 Bible.
