Porsche Crest 904 at the Michigan Swap Meet?

Did any of you Michigan guys get a picture of the 904? in the back of the dealership on Saturday? I was wondering if it is real or not. I think wcc(Bill) got some shots but I don't recall.

I got some pics. There is a book on the front seat that says 904.

Notice the book on the seat:

Should walk around the lot, a tiny voice kept saying as I left the show.

Historic plates for a 25 year old kit-car?

No way.

That's the real thing my friend.

Some things don't look quite right. The floor should be flat but maybe this one has been modified. They also usually had Talbot mirrors and Hella 129 driving lights. This car has the earlier Hella 128. It also doesn't seem likely that anyone would put the script from a Carrera RS on the side of a real 904. The real deal had a Carrera GTS script in aluminum on the back right fender.

I'm not saying this isn't the real deal but I just wanted to point out some things I noticed.

It's real. He's got a 906 twin-plug motor in it (and he has the original motor as well).

I have seen it before at other PCA events but I don't know who owns it.
How much would a real one be worth? Would it be left alone in a parking lot?
I would have like to hear it run.

A real 904 has gotta be around $500K at least. I think there were just over 100 made.

Is this "old smokey"?

The one which is supposed to be a hot box on summer days, so much so that the driver has to peel himself out of it?

I love that car, I've posted pictures of it before if it's the 4-cylinder one and not a 6-cylinder version.

It's real - A guy names Alex owns it. I talked to him at the meet but he didn't tell me his car was there!!! He's brought it on some PCA drives (mostly attended by water pumpers who don't have a clue what a 904 is and ignore it - as evidenced below). Here's a pic of it at a drive in '04 next to my car... yes, i deftly maneuvered to park next to it! I was FLOORED when I saw it show up - so cool for him to drive it as much as he does!!

This guy diffinently marches to the beat of his own drum. A real 904 with Pertronix twin-plug ignition. Atleast it's the blue version. Gotta love it.

".... who don't have a clue what a 904 is and ignore it - as evidenced below."

Yeah, I can just hear the comments .... 'that's a weird looking Porch, I'll bet it's a kit car built on a 914' .... little do they know, it's worth 4 times more than the mass-produced Ferrari that draws all the attention in the background.
