When did Porsche Start installing the G50?

Hey,

I got a simple question..........My friend is looking to buy a Carrera (84 - 89), and I couldn't remember what the model year was of the first cars to use the G50.

When did the G50 Tranny start going into the Carrera models?

Thanks for your help,

And the clutch release fork bearing supports weren't "fixed" from the factory until April '89 production.... beware and look for repair receipts..
