The Type 901/06 with that serial # was a late 1967 Normal 2-liter engine with 130 HP originally.

Since it's a 67' then the case should be aluminum so that's where the value of this motor lies. Not many people looking for 2L normal engines but that case is a good foundation for a small displacement race motor. I'd put value around $2000 to $2500.

The L had a normal motor like a T. The 911L was basically a 911S with a normal T motor. The S motor couldn't pass smog with it's carbs in 68'. The S model returned in 69' when MFI was first used on a production 911. The 911L was specific to the US in 68' for this reason if I'm not mistaken. It took the place of the 911S in the US.

Your probably right. I was going off of memory which doesn't always serve me.

There was no T or L model in 1967, there was only the 911 "Normal" and the 911S, rated at 130 and 160 HP, respectively. In 1968, the T appeared for the first time, and was only sold in the ROW market, as was the S. It was rated at 110HP, with the S remaining at 160HP. In the USA, the L replaced the S, due to the smog restrictions that Bobby mentions, and it had the same 130 HP as the 911 "Normal" for the USA market, but had all the upgraded suspension/brakes/trim packages as the S. The S and the T were not imported that year.

Tom pretty much said it all, but to add to the confusion there was a 911L model for ROW too, replacing the "normal" 911 in the ROW market, and it did NOT come standard with 911S goodies. As far as I know there is no normal 911 in ROW for 1968.

So for USA:
normal 911: 130HP smog motor
911L: 130hp smog motor with S trim.

ROW:
911T: 110hp
911L: 130hp (no S goodies)
911S: 160hp

Yep, 1968 was a wierd year.
