Help! I need the "right" wheel sizes to order custom wheels.

Hi there,

I need to get race wheels for my RS project car. I am looking for 16 X 8, 16 X 10, which, with the right sizing, will fit under the fenders. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to tell a custom manufacturer in terms of sizing? I used to have it, but don't any longer.

Thanks.

Here is Bill Verburg's wheel offset chart:

IMHO with a 17" wheel you'll get a lot more tire options. 16", unless a track car, you'll be limited to only certain widths...

Yes, more tires are available for 17" and larger wheels.

Try Fikse.com. They have a chart with all the info needed for custom offset wheels.

I already have the Tires. Hoosier AS05's. 245 and 275/45-16. Thanks for the Fikse info.

I have been looking at this on my RS-bodied car. From what I can tell, you need 5.5" backspacing on the 8" fronts and 6" BS on the 10" rears. Remember to check your calipers for overhang clearance, as that will be a consideration for the shape of the centers/spokes.

Tom, I found a solution for both of us.
I'll post the info. The best I can get for backspacing is 5.25, the rest will have to be the baseball bat.

Quick specs from my conversation with them this morning:

16 X 8 5.25" bs, 13.7 lbs. $250/ea.
16 X 10 6" bs, 14.1 lbs. $265/ea.

More to come.

These are aluminum, obviously.

give Souk a call at motomotions - I know they are working on some interesting wheel stuff right now - before you pull the trigger

rennch 04-13-2006 11:28 AM

Actually, I'm doing this because Souk's thing didn't work out. The wheels he had lined up had some manufacturing problems and now I'm forced to do something else.

JeremyD 04-13-2006 11:32 AM

Kodiak? CCW? Sonjay?

MotoSook 04-13-2006 11:32 AM

Can I clarify? I believe Jeremy is talking about the Motolites. The Motolites are aluminum wheels that we are currently testing.

Michael, you asked me about the old wheels, and I sent you replies via e-mail, but you must be spam blocking me. I sent you a PM also.

JeremyD 04-13-2006 11:33 AM

yes yes = motolites

MotoSook 04-13-2006 11:34 AM

Jeremy, we've sold several sets of the Kodiak wheels.

your PM box is full Souk!

MotoSook 04-13-2006 12:17 PM

Dangit! I keep deleting stuff out of there...even the sent files.

Shoot me an e-mail to be sure. I don't like this PM business for that reason.

kwm 04-13-2006 12:22 PM

Wow. Those moto lites are nice where did those come from?

rennch 04-13-2006 12:51 PM

Yea Souk...your PM box is full! I checked my spam box and didn't see anything. So, they are lost in Cyberspace. I'm not talking about Motolites, CCW, or any of those other ones. Different company.

JeremyD 04-13-2006 12:54 PM

is it a secret?
