Help! I need the "right" wheel sizes to order custom wheels.

Hi there,

I need to get race wheels for my RS project car. I am looking for 16 X 8, 16 X 10, which, with the right sizing, will fit under the fenders. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to tell a custom manufacturer in terms of sizing? I used to have it, but don't any longer.

Thanks.

IMHO with a 17" wheel you'll get a lot more tire options. 16", unless a track car, you'll be limited to only certain widths...

Yes, more tires are available for 17" and larger wheels.

Try Fikse.com. They have a chart with all the info needed for custom offset wheels.

I have been looking at this on my RS-bodied car. From what I can tell, you need 5.5" backspacing on the 8" fronts and 6" BS on the 10" rears. Remember to check your calipers for overhang clearance, as that will be a consideration for the shape of the centers/spokes.

TT

Tom, I found a solution for both of us.
I'll post the info. The best I can get for backspacing is 5.25, the rest will have to be the baseball bat.

Quick specs from my conversation with them this morning:

16 X 8 5.25" bs, 13.7 lbs. $250/ea.
16 X 10 6" bs, 14.1 lbs. $265/ea.

More to come.

Actually, I'm doing this because Souk's thing didn't work out. The wheels he had lined up had some manufacturing problems and now I'm forced to do something else.

Can I clarify? I believe Jeremy is talking about the Motolites. The Motolites are aluminum wheels that we are currently testing.

Michael, you asked me about the old wheels, and I sent you replies via e-mail, but you must be spam blocking me. I sent you a PM also.

Dangit! I keep deleting stuff out of there...even the sent files.

Shoot me an e-mail to be sure. I don't like this PM business for that reason.

Yea Souk...your PM box is full! I checked my spam box and didn't see anything. So, they are lost in Cyberspace. I'm not talking about Motolites, CCW, or any of those other ones. Different company.
