Alt pully tool, Wt2do if dont have one?
My car had no tool kit in it. I'm about to pull the alternater out and change it. How do you remove the altenater pully without a Porsche tool, the one that has the 2 stubs on it that attaches to the pully? Any ideas? Thanks for any reply.

This may not be an option for you, however I just use an air impact to zip the bolt of, no holding tool required.

I think I have that tool with my tool kit... but how the hell is it used??
I had to replace the alt fan on Stinky, and accomplished it without using the tool. I poked and prodded around, but couldn't figure out where the hell you're supposed to stick it. (I don't usually have that problem)

Tool pins go into the ring of holes in the outer pulley half/fan. Do you have an owners manual?

Actually yes, I do have the original owner's manual. I'll have to peruse it and see if the tool is the right one, and if it will work (the tool kit was in my '70... and the engine is from the '70, too)

hold the pulley with large channel-locks while you turn the nut off.

Thanks to all. Since there isn't another P-car owner in the entire county, I'll order one from our host. I guess there are some great ideas to get it off. Is the nut holding the pully on really tight? Thanks

may require a little effort to break it free if it hasen't been off in a while, but be carefull if you use channel locks......wrap a rag around the teeth or you'll mark up your outer pulley.
and DO NOT stick something through the fan blades....this is a big no-no as it can damage the fan (precautionary statement ![]()
