Man, I'm sorry to see that. I hope the rust isn't too extensive. Is that the only area of rust you've found?

Beautiful car you have.

That area is a little prone to rust unless so sort of sealer/undercoat is used underneath to seal out any moisture coming up from the wheels. Cold galvanizing spay would work pretty well here on the bare metal first.

I have a ongoing test with using cold galvanizing spray on a bare metal steel 930 flare outside in the cold rain and snow and no sign of rust in 23 months.

I checked and yes, it has undercoat beneath. Notsure why water can get in. Now I affraid it will happen again.
Where do you find that Cold Gavanizing spray?
Should I spray it on the metal after preping it, and right before paint?
I used "turn rust into primer" before, on another car, and I took it off since it look like it's form a layer of coating on the metal. Noting more.

So far that is the only place I found. I suspect the other side too. Everywhere look like new (body and parts), this is the reason I decided to buy this car, not too long ago. Originally, I don't really like convertible slantnose. And don't like red that much either.

Looking at the pic, I just thought maybe I paint that area black instead of red. It might make the car look meaner

I picked up the cold galvanizing spray at a local Fastenal store. They are a industrial supply type store. Most automotive paint shops should be able to get it also. Its about $8.00 a can for the good stuff.

I spray it on the bare metal.

Read the directions on that cold-galvanizing paint. Most do not take top-coats well.

I must ask for a bit of clarification.

• What prompted you to strip the paint? Was it bubbling?
• Is there surface rust, or are the edges of the louvers rusting away?
• Why not take it to a body shop and have them fix it? I think it will be cheaper and easier than trying to fix it in your driveway. The entire fender will need to be painted to have it match as well as possible.

The paint is kind of bubling.
After the paint in the area scraped off, yes, there is surface rust mostly at the corner of the louver.
Either I paint it myself, or leave it to the pro, I will do the prep myself first. Reason is that I can't trust the shop if they really clean up all the rust for me, sure they can make it look real nice.
