Please read my spark plugs...

I think I have about 5k miles on these which inlclude at least 15 track days. I'm running an MSD 6AL and these were gapped at .040. Car sure smells rich, but these looks lean, no? All look uniformly colored.

Which car is this for? I think a gap of .040 is a bit large. For my SC the gap is supposed to be between .028 and .032.

On a completely different subject, are you in the military or retired from the military. I could help but notice the USAA envelope.

This is for the SC and an MSD lets you increase the gaps significantly.

No, my dad was in the Army and I am lucky to have gotten USAA when I was a teenager.

Well, your plugs look like they are running at the right temp, no black carbon which is typical for a rich mixture.

How is your fuel economy?

I've been gapping my plugs at 0.060" on my otherwise stock 3.2 DME Carrera without any problems, so what's the big deal?

Cheers,

Joe

Really hard to tell from the picture. Lean would be more toward whitish, and just right would be more toward tannish. How does the car run in other respects? Had the mixture looked at?

Any color other than snow white with unleaded fuel is too rich.

All engines today run stoichiometric mixtures regardless if air or water cooled and come out white when removed...no exceptions.
