Befroe you spend megabucks rebuilding your tranny try the inexpensive things:

New Bushings
Proper adjustment to your clutch release
Proper adjustment of your linkage
SWEPCO 201.

My synchros were very grindy when I got my car but after doing the above, while not perfect, I no longer see a Tranny rebuild in my immediate future.

I have altered my question. A search suggested that brake bands be replaced. They are not that expensive. Try this post to see why I am so sure a rebuild is necessary. I have relaced the shift coupler, shift sleeve and cup. It is more precise in it's grinding now!
