A little function, a little appearance

I gave my RS bumper a makeover this weekend, adding both S trim and a TRE splitter.

Before-

After-

I also added the front bumper gasket, that was missing entirely.

The next item is to add the trim at the rear. Looks like my horn grills need some alignment help too.

Todd,

Wow that is a slick looking car!

Can you tell me where you got the window visor sticker? I have been looking for one just like that.

Cool...
AND you raked the leaves too! Busy weekend, LOL...

So, what material is the splitter? ABS?

And the widsheild visor?? No offense, but it looks like semi gloss/flat black contact paper.. which is cool.

Nice Car! :-D I like the color, the body, the wheels; its just great. The rack for track tires is great-no pickup truck and trailer is required for this Porsche. Right On! :-)

well, if you just want to black that area out, black contact paper is the cheap way to go. On the outside, application will be easy, and the result will be a low sheen. Or do it on the inside, so you have an even gloss on the outside. it won't last long on the outside..teh weather will kill it.

Or, contact a race car number guy in your area, and buy the better stuff.

Or get a window tint supplier to give you a section of their darkest tint. That will be the best, as you can wet the glass before application, making the final result much better. no bubble/wrinkles, etc.

That's what's noted, S trim. Though the RS tourings had this trim as well.

Noah-I hear you...I struggle with the dual purpose nature of the car all the time. I like a stock look but could use more aero at the track. The splitter may go on and off as needed.

Porschedoc did the windshield stuff, it still looks good after 5 years. I'd remove it if I could but there are no visors in the interior due to the cage.

I like the splitter. I looked on TREs website, but didn't see it there. Care to share the price and material? Or I can call them Monday....

About $130. It's ABS plastic.

I put it back to the end of the RS bumper, no trimming needed.

Here are some pics Dave sent me prior to purchase and his note as well.

attached is a picture of the splitter we fab for the rs front bumper/spoiler. it is made from abs plastic, which is very durable. Cost is $125 inc screws, washers, nuts for install.

For the windshield, you can buy a roll of "limo black" tint at Autozone or pretty much any retail auto parts store. The hardest part is getting it cut to the size and shape that you want. I did the same for my Porsche when I had it and will be doing the same for the miata soon.
