I need to replace my carpet!

Hi Everyone,

I have a '77 911S with cork interior. Well, the carpet was probably cork at one time - now it's better described as super-faded tan-ish color. It's very faded, especially between the rear jump seats.

I've been looking at the AppBiz carpet sets (the plush one - not the RS perlon felt stuff - I hate that).

Basically, I have two questions:

1) how would my car look with black carpeting? The seats door panels, etc. are cork, but the dash is black. Also, the upper doors are black as well.

2) What's the plush carpeting from AppBiz like? I see he now also has the sliverknit in black, but for appx. $300 more. Money is an issue. The carpet doesn't have to look factory, but I also don't want it to look horrible.

I'd love to see a picture of a car with a cork interior and black carpet (or tan interior, etc.).

Thanks everyone,
Damion

Black will look fine. I have the AppBiz black plush, and its not as high quality as the German stuff that came out. That's not a knock on AppBiz, but just the reality since the price is so much cheaper than OEM Sliverknit.

That said, I think the carpeting looks fine. Mine turned out great. It just wears pretty quickly. If this is an occasional use car, no biggy. If you use the car a lot, you may want something a little more durable. Nice floor mats will also help the wear issue.

Damion, Have you definitely decided to change from Cork? My '76 with Cork interior is DEFINITELY in need of new carpet but I am definitely going with the original Cork as my dash is perfect. I plan on buying Pelican's full domestic Cork carpet package. My upper doors are Cork too. I've never seen a mix of the colors. Post pictures when done, okay?

I'm cork dash, knee rail, center console and door tops, black everywhere else. The cork carpet got to me, so I went with black.

I swapped out an all cork '77 Targa with a black instrument panel to black carpet, door pockets, top of the door trim, rear shelf, trim and knee pads.

The seats, upper dash and upper door panels stayed cork.

I think it looks fantastic.

Anyone have any pics of their black and cork interiors?
