Engine Mount washers needed?
Had a buddy have some trouble installing new engine mounts in his SC. They are the correct ones, BTW. He said he couldn't get the center bolt started in to the threads of the engine plate. He thought the new mounts were too thick causing the old bolt to not reach.
Today he told me eliminated the large flat washer on the top of the mount and did some aligining of the plate and it worked ok. Should we reinstall these washers? I think they are important to keep the bolt head from pulling through the rubber, He is coming over next Saturday so we can replace his tranny mounts. Thanks,

That's what I thought. I 'll reinstall them when he brings it over for the trans mounts. What I don't understand is why thee would be so much difference between old and new mounts that it would require shorter bolts. go figure

rubber compressed over long periods of time won't 'spring back' all the way
