Fuel injection problem?

When my 84 Carrera gets up to temp it does a weird idling thing. When I come to a stop. It will idle at around 950-1000 rpm for about five seconds then it will very quickly kick up to about 1500 rpms and back to 1000 rpms. It will do this about ten times before it stops and begins idling properly again. Its almost as if I was to very quickly tap the accelerator lightly. Whats going on?

There are a number of things it could be. There a few sensors that could cause this including the O2 sensor and cylinder head temp sensor. Do a search to find many threads on how to diagnose the problem.

Meka,

Search me... No, really.

I was having this and other symptoms. Replaced DME relay, cyl head temp sensor, etc. Posted, got tons of input. Problem is gone, though I'm not exactly sure which single item did it. I had to fix a few issues...

Also try "Carrera balkiness season".

Chris
