What is this dash?

Quick question..

I NEED a new dash, and in my searches, have come across this one. It's said to be a '71, but I don't know enough about dashes to be sure. It seems to lack the seperate grill that I thought was found on dashes from that era. Could it be from a 912? Or older?

Hey Jake!

I picked-up a dash just like yours last year from John Walker here in Seattle that had been pulled out of a '69 911. I wondered the same thing about the unusual speaker grill and JW said that it was a generic factory replacement part. I had to drill an additional hole for an extra threaded stud next to the clock but other than that it fit wonderfully in my '74 911.

Thanks Daryl!

So by "factory" I assume you mean Porsche? The biggest issue I see, is what do you do when the speaker needs replacement? Pull the windsheild, then the dash then the speaker?

(I assume the skin laps over the windsheild body flange like my old and cracked dash)

It won't be an issue for me as I won't use that speaker, LOL, but it would suck if you did!

Hey Jake!

Yes, "Porsche" factory replacement part. I moved my front speakers to a "Moch-1" speaker mount under my dash so I wasn't worried about the lack of a removable grill on the dash.

Not the greatest for sound quality because the speakers point straight at the floor and not your ears but I didn't want to put speaker holes in my door panels.
