The Pertronix ingitor is a way better way to ditch ponts with MSD than any optical system. No extra box either.

One thing you need to watch is the fact that some coils need to be mounted upright or they will begin to ozzz goo and eventually fail. Usually they will say the coil can be mounted in any orientation if that is the case.

LOL vash..

I use a philip screw driver. Wrap it around and as you have about 6 coils push them close together.. Larger srew driver, larger coils..

Regarding the Pertronix, do a search here. The quality seems to be iffy. Lots of DOA or just plain failures.

The "Hi vibe" version of the MSD coil is intended for inverted mounting.

i've got an high vibration epoxy flamethrowerl coil from pertronix, cause the msd importer here is a crappy outfit that couldn't get it delivered in over a month...the flamethrower works like a charm on my car... i don't see how an epoxy coil could care about it's mounting position... there's no oil, epoxy is solid...

and a nice touch , the flamethrower is nice black
remove the sticker, and it's very low key

unlike the flashy red for msd

msd pertronix

the msd came with the car 4 years ago,, i added pertronix 2 years ago,,,starts (knock on wood) everytime and runs to the limit very quickly.

do not have any experience with the bosch but found that the black wire on the points was rubbing on the distributor cam intermittently, causing tons of problems. As a result i eplaced the points with a so that is why i put in a pertronix which has worked nicely.

10 years on my MSD 6AL + Pertronix. No probs. Better low end running, Makes adjusting carbs much easier.
