Oh boy, a new look for my 911!

A couple months back I was in John Walker's shop and eyed a certain nice-fitting duck tail on his '73 911T project.

To make a long story short, the duck tail, a euro-style rear bumper, new rear apron and color-matched H4 headlight rings just came back from the paint shop today sporting a matching coat of #936 silver metallic paint!

As soon as my Pelican order of new bumper accordians and rubber trim arrives, I'll be terrorizing all the rice-burner pilots in the neighborhood!

Ah, the joy of fresh paint!

Daryl, Hi. Whats different about that Euro bumper? Looks like it will take the big bumperettes to cover the hole spacing. Maybe it is just the angle of the picture. It ought to look great. I did the Euro small bumperettes on my '76 and Euro yellow tail light lenses...I think it really cleaned up the look.

Hey Dan the Man!

Here's Euro bumperettes on an SC bumper. You can see the footprint and holes of the larger "lunch-box" bumperettes where subsequent paint work was masked off.

The '74 had the smaller bumperettes originally but at some point mine got swapped with an SC bumper. I agree with you, they really clean up the look.

Hmmm, somneone put an SC bumper on your '74, huh? I guess there was a lot of that "updating" done back in the day. Earlies with impact bumpers...

Just my $.02 but with your silver car I think the red lenses would look best. My car is yellow so I went with the EUro yellows and I think it has a slightly more consistent look.

Hey Rod! Will do on the "after" photos. As far as where I got the ducktail, it's a hand-me-down of sorts off JW's '73 E project:

Why not remove the bumperettes all together to really clean up the rear bumper?....not meaning to hijack

"err..i guess i mean 'seeing' her quack!
ryan"

Which leads us to the question: Do ducktails make your car go 'quacker'?

OK, Its early yet. Darryl, I'm just jealous cause
a/ you live near John Walker's Workshop and
b/ your car is lookin' great!

QUACK! QUACK!

Les, you're going to hate me more as I had to make a trip down to John Walker's Workshop today to get some of the trim pieces that got destroyed when I took the old bumper apart. Having JW close by is indeed a very good thing, I can't thank him enough for all he's done to help me with my project cars. I was able to get it all put back together today thanks to not having to wait for parts orders.

The gaps on the duck tail are not quite as tight as I would have liked but I was able to get them somewhat uniform. I really like the contour of this duck tail as it's not that ugly block "L" you see on so many of the aftermarket ones currently available.

I also got the color-matched headlight rings on too. I'm kind of stuck with leaving the hood portion of the bra on because I had to shim the latch with washers to get the dang thing to close with it on. So now when I take it all off, the hood doesn't close all the way. I guess I can live with it for now. I don't know what possessed me to buy black ring H4 headlights, now I wish I would have gone with the chrome ones.

Nah! The body color rings look beautiful. That would be my first choice.
