Angry Temporary fix for heater hose 81 SC

Finally got too short to fit! Left side Heat exchanger to blower motor, paper and aluminum. probably part #901-211-195-00-M93
for about $8.50 from our host. Questions are. .
1. will a local Napa have such a thing? 2 hours to the nearest Porsche parts (Denver).
2. Can I put a can over the intake point and clamp it down? Don't need heat for a while.
3. Will driving it short trips hurt anything?
4. Should I just order it from PP and not worry about it.

Any help appriciated.

am i thinking about it wrong? on my 81, from the blower motor, it runs to the larger black plastic shroud thing. not to the exhanger.

i have seen a car run for along time with beer can caps. i think if you are going to go that route, use black spray paint caps. you will be fine.

It's the paper/Alum hose that runs from the bottom left corner near the distributor to a "Y" type junction then into the front of the blower. Big plastic hose is fine. Guess I should cap both ends and I am working on the second soda now. Tried the top of the can but there was a hole in it where the soda comes out!
Thanks

Assuming you have an SC with the blower motor, you won't find that particular hose at NAPA.

IMO You are OK not to have anything on there. Many people leave them off. Be warned though....your engine runs 10 to 20 degrees cooler with the heat exchangers hooked to the blower or some type of backdated ducted hose to the HEs.

PP has the replacement hose but other type of hose may fit

Ordered new hose from our host yesterday. Have 2 soda cans clamped over the holes till it gets here. Just back and forth to work (20 miles a day). Should be OK till then.

Thanks all
