Is my Carrera authentic?

Hi, 1st time poster and I hope I'm not messing up any established code of conduct....

Anyway, I have a question. I own a 1975 911S Targa Carrera. What little research I've been able to do has suggested that a 911S-Targa-Carrera was not produced in 1975, however I believe I have all of the repair records on this car and none of it indicates that it has been altered since leaving the dealership. Does anyone have the historical knowledge as to whether this model might have come this way from the factory?

If it helps, the ID# is 9115210832.

It DOES have the 25th anniversary sticker in the passenger rear window, however it is the wrong color to be the limited Silver Edition.

9115210832 is an H series US S targa, it is not a Carrera(there is no such animal as an S Carrrer anywhere), the oem engine was rated 165hp @ 5800

The most obvious visual tipoff is the standard non flared hips,

the spoiler has the correct appearance for the year but was added after the fact

the targa bar has been painted after the fact, probably the whole car was painted at some point

I knew the bar had been painted to match (the 2nd owner told me that the original owner had done so) but the rear flared fenders and spoiler are add-ons? (And I assume then that the wheels and obviously the side stickers are also)

The spoiler is an add-on aftermarket spoiler...It is hard to tell from the angle if the quarters have flares or not....if the VIN did not come back as a Carrera...then it isn't a Carrera....the parts are easily obtainable to clone one....just like my 87 Carrera looks like a 74 Carrera....sorta

It is difficult to tell from the picture but I believe the flares are the non flared S variety

My ex-girlfriend had a 1976 that I'm pretty sure was bone stock, so that's what I compare it to. Mine has wider fenders (I'm not sure how much wider), the tail of course, and different sized tires (205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear). I always kind of suspected it wasn't factory, hence my question. Thanks for being so quick with the replies.

Try not to be too bummed out that it isn't a Carerra. It is a beautiful car and the aftermarket modifications while misleading are tastefully done.

If it makes you feel any better, the US Carrera was nearly identical to the regular 911S, except for the script, the flares in the back, and the wing. In this particular year, the differences were mainly cosmetic. The Euro Carreras on the other hand had the 2.7 MFI engine that was used with 911RS. These are worth much more than their US counterparts, although not as much as the 1973 Carrera RSs...

Now my ignorance is realy going to show....Are the US models supposed to be carbureted? (sp?) Because this one has injection...

Well, anyway, welcome to the forum! You have a very nice looking 911S Targa there and the Carrera body mods seem to have been done well.

I checked on your VIN and it comes up as a 1975 model year US49 (meaning not a California car) 911S Targa. It had 165 hp @ 5800 RPM and had a standard weight of 1150 Kg. 1517 were built that year. Yes, they were injected (CIS injection).

You should join us for our Big Bear run on June 17th. It should be huge.

Don't get me wrong- I love my 911. I was only curious, and suspected all along that the Carrera thing was an "upgrade". I'm actually thrilled that it's not a California model.
