What alloy?
All,
Does anyone know the aluminum alloy used by Fuchs? I need to give a potential anodizing source some details to determine their suitability... TIA, Chris

They are Magnesium, not aluminum. If your potential annodizing source didn't know they were Magnesium, consider Al Reed refinishing. I tried several places in Atlanta that turned the work down at any price.
do a search using "Al Reed". He is far cheaper than any of the local shops I talked to and does excellent, consistant work.

didn't notice you are a senior member. I'm sure the reference to aluminum was a mistake. And you are aware of Al Reed and how the search button works. I'll stop typing now...

So?..... this ( the Fuchs) is still an aluminum alloy wheel...what does a fraction of 1% Mg have to do with calling this a magnesium wheel?...
Now the 5.5 x 15.... " gas burner" wheel....that's another story.... - Wil

There is an indepth thread on the subject here
Excellence article on Fuchs, (issue#93 pg 107) says the alloy used to make Fuchs is "AlMgSil or AA6082." AA6082 is; Al 0.9Mg 1.0Si 0.7Mn --OR-- 0.9% Mg (Magnesium) 1.0% Si (Silicon) 0.7% Mn (Maganese) 97.4% Al (Aluminum) [implied balance] Slightly different from Jacks of Nicks of Joachims factory info. For yet another data point . . . and a bit more detail;
