A lap of Infineon in Cazzo

Hey guys,

Had a little fun up at Infineon (Sears Point for us old-timers) this past weekend in the F-car. Had a cool little in-car camera setup and got some laps on videotape. It was my first time on a track in a grocery-getter so it was a different experience, for sure. I put new Bridgestone Potenza RE050s on before the weekend. I must say, they pretty much suck. I had no front end grip at all. The car's electronics kept the back end under control nicely. The lapping was nice and comfortable, though. Its nice to lap at a comfortable pace; makes it so easy to hit all your marks.

Anywho, enjoy!

Nicely done Richard!

I can tell you understand what an apex is. Former bike racers always get it pretty quickly.

I was watching with pride as you nailed the line really well each corner, and was waiting to see what line you would take through 8 and 8A. Then you just went straight and I thought WTF?

Then I realized you guys were running the bypass that the bikes run. I've never run that configuration, but it looks less fun to me. But I guess it keeps the bike racers safer, since it makes turn 10 less of a nightmare.

I would not want to race a bike at that track!

BTW, car sounds sweet!

Can we download that? I've been collecting in-cars from various tracks, and am a big "Sears" fan.

Hi Richard,

Is there some big Ferrari event going on in Northern Ca. I was out on my bicycle, yesterday, in the hills between Moraga and Castro Valley (S.F. bay area) and at least 75 F-Cars came through. Looked like they were participating in some sort of rally. Most Ferrari's I've every seen in my entire life, on the streets.

Tyson - I raced my Aprilia at Infineon a few weeks ago. Lemee tell you.... that track is a blast on a bike! Its a workout, too. Major wrist pump. Not used to using the brakes after running at Willow lately.

das90kind - shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll email you a Quicktime file.

Bill - Yes, Ferrari North America has a rally going on all week. I declined... $6,000 buys a lot of tires for my bike!

Nicely done Richard. Thanks for sharing. I'd say that the new videocam setup works quite well!

No doubt it's a blast Richard. It's my favorite track. I'm just saying I wouldn't want to ride a bike there for fear of large immovable objects.

You must have cojones grandes to push the envelope on a bike at that track.

It's pretty terrifying in a car in the wet, I can tell you that!

You were shifting so fast I never saw your hands leave the wheel (is that cheating?).

I ended a potentially brilliant racing career in 1984 going into turn 10 forward, and coming out backwards. This was fun to watch, thanks.

Ahhhhh.... the wonders of paddle shifting. Gotta tell you... not having to row through a gearbox on the track is an amazing feeling. Without a doubt, all racecars should have paddles. I know the purists will puke, but don't knock it till you try it

Toby,

go to the AX forum and search for the video that has the Subaru filming, I think Larry Sharp posted the link.

GREAT video! Not that yours isn't Richard, just that the other one shows the track better I think

cbeers - I couldn't find the video. I'd like to see it for comparison purposes.

Christian - I haven't grown up yet. That's the trick.

it was a great video, I think the camera was mounted on the roof or wing giving an "outside" look........

Maybe I'll post asking for help locating it.
