7" 951 wheel question
I just want to make sure I've got this right before I go spending any money.
I am considering putting 7" 951 wheels on the front of my '84 with '78 930 brakes. I have shaved the fins off of the calipers. The car has been lowered to euro height, and it has stock torsion bars. I have 8mm spacers all around, with 16x6 and 16x7 wheels now. I also have a set of ROH 16x7 and 16x8 with 225/50 and 245/45 tires. They are heavy, though, and as we've discussed here, Fuchs just look right. If I put my 911 7" on the front with 225/50-16 tires and my 8mm spacers, they stick out past the fender. I have tried this already. Can I put the 951 7s on the front w/o a spacer? Will it clear my calipers? I will probably use a 205/55 tire. The rubbing in turns when there is weight on the front drives me nuts. I assume I won't have any problem getting 8s on the rear, either 911s with my 8mm spacer or 951s. Thanks.

The 951 7 wihtout spacer should clear your 930 caliper that has the fins machined. *should*
Cheers

I have a 7" 951 fuch wheel without a tire that you can test fit if you'll pay for shipping both ways. Unfortunately, I'm on California. Fortunately though, a tireless fuchs is really light! The wheel is in pretty good shape so you'd have to promise to return it in the same condition that you receive it.

I agree, it should clear easily

Thanks for your kind offer, Spede.
I'm pretty sure it will fit, but I wanted to hear it from one of the guys on the board. Thanks Bill and Jeff!

I know the 8" 951 rear is a unique wheel, but aren't all 7x16 fuchs the same? I think the 911 and 951 used the same wheel.
Anybody know for sure? All I know is that I should have kept the Fuchs wheels when I sold the 951 I used to have. |

The 951 seven is different. It has the same offset but has much more caliper clearance. This gives the wheel an outward appearance very similar to that of the 911 6 inch wheel. Same way the 951 8 looks similar to a 911 7.
Cheers

To be clear..although someone already said this.... the two different 7" Fuchs have the same backspace/offset.... so it might seem odd that the 951/944 model has more caliper clearance. It does...but *not* because of altered backspace..it simply is formed differently to gain more clearance...
I *think* the 951 version has the characteristic "deep lug holes" too ( vs. the 911 version which doesn't)..anyone confirm ?? - Wil

Wil and Jeff are on the case!
I'm hoping to sell my Miata soon and get in the market for a set of 951 7" and 8".

I give my personal guarantee they will fit.
![]() My street wheels are 951 7s with no spacer on the front. I have 930 brakes with filed fins.
