MSD Coil Question
Can I use a MSD Coil on my stock 81 SC without causing damage to my CDI unit. I do not have the MSD installed, I just want to use the coil.
Thanks in advance.

Ernie,
You can use the MSD High-Vibration epoxy-filled coil without fear. I wouldn't use any other MSD coil in the stock mounting location, as that could cause oil leakage and coil failure! I have tested the MSD High-Vibration epoxy-filled coil for over 120 hours continuously on a test bench with Bosch and Permatune units under a heat lamp [to simulate underhood 200°F temps] ... identical output to the stock Bosch coil, and no problems!

Thanks for the info. That is what I have but when I put it on my tach jumped a few times and I thought there was too much voltage. I have been driving for the past two days without a problem and no tach issues. It seems to run much better with the MSD.
