Targa Bar Script Removal ???
I'm getting ready to refinish the Targa Bar on my '88 911 and was trying to remove the "Targa" script from the sides of the bar. I tried with dental floss like has been suggested in some of the threads here without success.
I get the floss to go in a few mm but no further. Is it possible that these were applied with something other than adhesive and may have used holes with posts and fasteners underneath the bar skin? If so, will I need to remove the skin to get them off? Thanks,

Hi Randy,
I emailed you as well, but yes, you will need to remove the bar skin to get the targa emblems off, as they use speednuts to attach from the rear. The dental floss recommendation is for removing the Carrera emblem from the rear decklid. HTH, ianc

ianc,
Thanks for the response. I was afraid you were going to say that. Randy

Randy,
It is not "that" hard to get the bar off and it will make the refinish much easier. Just be sure and get some long extensions and a swivel. There are two nuts (10mm???) as I remember on each side way up front in the rear wheel wells. The passenger side is the hard one as the charcoal canister is in the way. You can also loosen that up to give yourself some room. Also, the skin is pretty flexible to get someone to help you take it off so you don't have an paint accident on the car. HTH, Paul
