JP:

Just get some Cap plugs of the correct size (same thing Weltmeister uses) and pop them on. If you put some small holes on the edges, the cotter pin holds them on.

The newest generation of WEVO SPS's have alloy plugs that do the same things,.....:)

I think putting these on my car by myself would be beyond my whimpy wrench skills but man do they look slick! nice write up. would be interested to see if they help Scrappy get some lower times...

Steve:
I found these vinyl caps from McMaster-Carr.
They'll fit the OD of the plate body and are 1" deep

Tyson:
Do you find that with the 80% LSD and SPS that the car wants to push to the outside during lift on long sweepers, or does the nose tuck in?

Thanks, JP! Those look nicer than the Cap plugs for sure.

Do you have any pics of what Wevo is using?

Smart Racing says to inquire about 87-89, what's the deal?

jpahemi 06-06-2006 07:12 PM

I have found these vinyl caps for the SPS plates; what do you guys think?

Ps. you can use the cotter pin to secure the cap by piercing the cap from the outside or you can press the cap over the cotter pin.

CBRacerX 06-06-2006 07:36 PM

Please make these for 87-89!

cali74 06-06-2006 07:44 PM

jp - what's the part number on that cap? (Saves me from measuring the OD of the SPS.) Thanks!

jpahemi 06-06-2006 08:47 PM

cali:
The part # is : 9753K77 from McMaster-Carr.
If you don't want to order a whole bag I could send you a pair, just cover postage; good?

sweet, sounds good! I'll pm my address, then lemmi know how much you'd like :-)

THanks!

randywebb 06-06-2006 09:26 PM

cap look like it'll do the trick - might make a note inspect yearly as it could degrade with time or impact...

jpahemi 06-06-2006 09:41 PM

randy:
I'm going to put a dab of grease in the cover to seal any potential water leaks. I have the hollow bars and don't like the idea of the open access hole.

The nose tucks in. It's just a smoother transition than before the SPS. Throttle-on gives some push, and lift tucks in the nose.

That's typical. The biggest difference was that I found I need much less steering correction after installing the SPS when encountering mid-corner bumps, or abrupt throttle inputs while cornering.

It's like buttah!

Did I miss an answer on the G50 question?

jpahemi 06-07-2006 01:49 AM

Yes, mid corner bumps are much smoother now; the car just glides over them without any sideways hop. The set-up seems to remove the sharp edges off the road/track imperfections; kind of like driving with a pillow under your ass. Now if I could get this same effect for the front!!!!!!

+1?

randywebb 07-19-2006 10:46 AM

JP - are your comments also based on the SPS vs. new stock bushings, or old ones, or...
