Question Annoying squeel when cold/wet!

Lately it's been very cold and wet around here in the mornings and when I pull away from stop, I can hear an annoying squeel from the motor. It sounds like a loose fan belt squeel.

Anyone else had this problem?

I checked the tension on the fan belt and it "seems OK" to me. BTW, how much should the belt flex by if I apply pressure to it?

the belt can be glazed, feel tight and squeek just fine. probably time for a new one. you should be able to move one side 1/4" or so. too tight is hard on everything that supports the pulleys.

with the engine running, go to the back and press on the throttle actuator arm to rev the engine and confirm that the squeal is coming from your fan belt..

I just recently had a major service done and the belt was supposedly replaced with a new one, so I would have thought the mechanic would have tensioned it properly. Find it kinda strange it'd start squeeling only 3-4K km's after the service was done. I'll check it out anyway.

Cheers
