My new soft window targa, is it something special?

I picked this thing up today. its a 69' t with the soft window. anyone have any idea how many of these were made, i did a search and have come to realize that its a pretty rare option but wasnt able to pin down an exact number. its mostly original as far as i can tell, its got a cd player and some seats out of a 944 that will be getting switched back as soon as i can find some correct ones. let me know what you think.

Wow!!! Nice work. My guess would be very few - in the area of a dozen or so. That's a SWAG, but your's is the first I've ever seen. Beautiful car!

Very nice.

For what it's worth. The soft window wasn't an option. It was considered standard equipment. The glass window was the option. It just happens that just about all the Targas got ordered with the optional glass after they became available.

You don't see too many Targas with the soft top after 68'. The latest I've seen was a 71'. Mark Wilson had it. It was Sportomatic too. Talk about rare.

Softwindow targa's were only produced in '67-'68 if I'm right; anyway within a 2 year timespan only.
Model is very rare and wanted in Europe.

Many softwindows were "upgraded" to the glass rear windows in earlier days.
It may be worthwile to check the chassisnumber to see if it is an orinal softwindow; but it probably is.

Great car !!!!!

I was under the impression that the soft window was a option after 68' and standard in 67' shows how little i know.

There's a story about a 68L in the August Excellence on the newstand now. A 380,000 mile one.

Is this the '69 soft window Targa that was advertised in yesterday's Washington Post for $8,500? If so, I want to report a robbery.

Looks like you've hit the lottery.

Makes me really glad that I bought the "soft window" kit from Mark Wilson a while back. Cannot wait to change mine over!
