Saw a yellowish orange soft window at my mechanics today. It was nice!

damn you guys are good. and might have saved me from a mistake. ive never had a 912 and didnt know how to decode the vin 550500. but i talked to the guy today. and it must have been listed wrong as a 69 because it is in fact a 67. completely original and had only one owner who picked it up from the factory and has all service records. he did have the rear fenders replaced because of rust and they do have the 69 slight flare to them. you all think it is still worth getting?

Depends a lot on condition and price. Personally, I prefer the SWB SWT cars, but they're all really nice. If the condition and price are right I'd jump on it, these are getting really hard to find in good condition.

521 - "T" soft window targas produced in 1968. I do not know how many in 1969.

Rarest next to 1969 is a 1968 NORMAL 911 -US Spec. soft window targa. They only made 134. I have #0004 and #0056, both white.

I've come late to this thread.
We have a 69 912 SWT LWB.
Bought it 6 months old in 70

Was told by the dealer that there were only 14 brought to the US.
The government didn't think the SWT with rear seat was safe and forced
Porsche to discontinue that model. Ours has a luggage rack and storage
compartments. We didn't have a option for seats.

After delivery of the 14, Porsche evidently decided against
the production and continued to only produce the hard window until the 912 was discontinued in mid 1969.

In all the years we have owned our gal I have only heard of one other in Bothel, WA and that was in the late 80s.

Our car was stolen in 1970. The engine, wheels, tires and top were gone.
We had a heck of a time getting a new targa top. We found several in salvage yards (we were in Miami, FL), but none fit. They all leaked since ours was the LWB and the others were earlier models. Unfortunately for one of our fellow AXers, his 69 SWT as stolen shortly after ours and his was found in a canal. We bought his top from the salvage company and it fit perfectly.

We never did get our 5 1/2" wheels back. Need to find a set.
It has been off the road since 1975. Time to get the old girl back into trim and enjoy her in our "old age.

According to the Red Book, there were 282 1969 911 T Targa's made. Unfortunately it does not give a break-down of the soft window vs. glass window, but it does mention the glass window being standard for 69.

Well...the mystery continues. My '69 912 has rear seats as do several other 69's. At one time I had counted 8 '69 SWT's just in the PNW.

The SW remained an option for a few years. There are a a few '70 & '71 SW 911's around.

Hope you get it back on the road soon!
