With all the discussion on trailing arms and back space I though I'd chime in om my RSR configuration.

I am using standard Aluminum trailing arms with 1" spacers. The rear tires are 275X16 with 3 piece 11" rims.
The wheels and tires have the following dimensions.

Section width=31cm
Backspace=12.5cm
Offset=backspace-section width/2=-2cm.

The tires fill out the whell wells very nicely.

How are you mounting the front and rear bumper covers?

I am no expert, but I am unimpressed by the welds. It seems the one on the tube isn't finished? Others look quite crude too, to my untrained eye?

As long as there is good fusion between the metals, I'm happy that the weld is strong. Some welds aren't done because they are still working on the cage. A "Y" shaped piece is going to be welded in across the door opening, terminating exactly where the weld isn't completed at that gusset plate. I asked for a "Y" instead of an "X" because I wanted to be able to get out of the car more easily. The car will be for track & street.

Vonzipper: I'm not sure how Doc does it...he will have to post that. I've never looked at the backside of the fiberglass parts so I don't know if there are metal brackets glassed in or if they have to be added. I think the parts are from GT Racing.

That big ugly glob of weld is were it was tacked during the initial fab work. That glob was ground off and fully welded after Dan put in the bars running it the front suspension points.
Take a good look at the weld just to the left side of the tube of the tack and the floor support plate what's what it will look like.

These parts are from Hank at GT Racing.
They come woth the brackets already on the bumper.
I will get ya some pics next week when I have my cammera here.

Is it true that the car has to be raised before the cage is welded in or something like that. I cant remember the story some Orange county guy told me. He is some guy that does Cup car cages and works with Chrome Moly.

Yea! Chrome Moly is a lot more tricker to do.
It has to be normalized after it's done.

This one is mild steel DOM. We weld up them with the wheels on the ground.
There is a few more pics of the welds and stuff.;)

Thats what I heard. I am thinking of tiing in my roll bar with a cage if I decide to take the racing thing more seriously. 2500 for a full cage is a bit too much right now even though his work is top notch. He actually follows the curve of the A pillars with a even 10mm space all the way thru the entire car.
