the turbo pipe was hung up on the metal shield where it joins... All came off as it should after that...

Hell, I even got the broken exhaust stud out with vise grips and a hotter torch. That was satisfaction, let me tell ya!

The wastegate is seized onto my old headers so I send them off to a shop close by for them to fiddle with while I proceed to install my new (new to me) GHL headers..

I am in the middle of a 930 rebuild myself and this thread has raised some concerns for me.

I'm going with a IA K27HFS and GHL 930 headers/muffler with heat. I'm converting to EFI also with a goal of 550hp at .9bar. Should I return the GHL headers and go with another setup or should I get another wastegate with my current parts list.

The GHLs are still in their box. TIA.

Ihaven't event started my car..but i can tell you that they look good and well built. Everything surrounding them, is old. My car is close to 20 yrs old, and although it's not a daily driver, it still has 95K miles on it, so you can certainly expect certain things to be rusty and seized (like bolts).

Getting my turbo off was not too hard, a little sweat and it was off. the muffler itself is a breeze. the headers is where the heat is.. so lots of seized stuff there... I sorta am enjoying this, but i want to get the thing back on the road now.. I wasn't planning on buying a new wastegate, stock one was fine, but now I have little choice.

Jim, I'd check with Stephen if you got the headers from him also. The issue with overboosting deals with the diameter of the wastegate pipe of the header from the turbo collector to the wastegate, and not the wastegate itself as long as it is working properly. GHL can build them on request with a larger tube. If you got these together with the HFS from Stephen you might be all set. In either case i would speak with him to allay any concerns.

Headers are in...

Finally go them on. here are some pics...

This next picure is of a next wastegate I had to buy as my stock one is seized to the original headers... and I do mean seized. These things aren't cheap let me tell you!!

You'll also notice that the heater ducting is not hooked up as I need to buy a 2.5" hose that is long enough, none of the stock stuff can be retrofited!

This is the oil line I needed fiddle with.. I finally cut the old line and used a 36MM socket to get it off.

Thanks everyone for helping.

mark, I cant believe the trouble you had with your 87. when I took my exhaust off my 76 930, it popped right off. In fact, some of the welds had broken and the parts fell off! I installed a k27 and ghl system with heat and wow!!! is it awesome. I'm sure you'll feel the same way when she comes off the lift
