Tony I may need your help in how to do that upgrade as I lost all my info in the crash a while back. As for wg piping it will vent right out in the stock location but not through any muffler |
Shoot me an email when you are ready.
will do still have your number can I call in the evening some night this week if need be??
ok.
You should also increase your fuel pressure from 2.5bar that I supply the kit with, to 3.0bar. You gonna need a fuel pressure guage inline with the fuel lines to do this properly. |
yup done that were set on that. I wonder I might have to increase the injector size as well??
The 30lbs/hr injectors I supply with the kit are good for just under 300Hp@3bar fuel pressure.
ben,
are the sc people looking to use your kit going to have to conver to to efi or is this going to be cis compatable as is the bae kit. |
hopefully for cis guys as well. Still no luck on having boots made for under 10,000 dollar investment of my own. I am not willing to do that without some folks getting into the mix. Nothing like having 10 grand worth of rubber boots sitting on the shelf if you know what I mean.
here is the oil drain pictures that I just finished. Bad pics bad storm outside and did not have a bunch of time to shut down for the night pretty hot right now and the only work really can be done with the doors open.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152497739.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152497805.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152497884.jpg |
"Still no luck on having boots made for under 10,000 dollar investment of my own. "
Ben, Contact me about the rubber boots. I have all the equipment. |
Maybe this might be something to ask here since it's sorta related.
I'm going to use a BEGI FMU #2025 or 2027 seen here http://www.bellengineering.net/Pages/products_FPR.html I bet these models are the same except one's got 1/4" ins/outs and the other one is 1/8" ins/outs I'm going to call them today, but if anyone here is using one on a carrera some first hand info would be nice. Longshot probably. |

Wow... This is gonna be one custom 911 when youre done..
well more pictures later this evening. Got the muffler honed in and the wg close to the correct position. I was thinking about the tail pipe side of it. Not sure how I can make it expand to 3 inches in such a small distance. I will show pictures later
have you started it yet? getting anxious
the morning I will fire it up.

I went out and finished up the pressure side just now. I was going to shoot some pics but battery dead in the camera. oh well the morning we will get some.
David ready to jump on board yet?? ;) oh do you have a picture of your muffler for the proto kit?? I don't remember what they used and was curious |
newbie question
new guy here. What is involved with converting a 3.2 to a low pressure turbo setup, be it "Protomotive Shmotomotive" or any other? LOL
Hi Ben
Nope, not ready yet, mine still has yours beat because it's already on my car ;) I am using a J pipe setup, so the muffler is as stock, single in, in the stock location. IMO, yours may be much more difficult to use on a 3.2 than what I already have, though I am anxiously awaiting your HP and TQ output. I can't imagine removing my HE's without a huge battle with snapped studs aplenty. |
here is some pics as of last night work and this mornings pics.
and as far as converting a 3.2 there is a bunch of info out there david has done it and jerry is starting his project shortlyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152623743.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152623781.jpg notice tail pipe and wastgate location |
well its is alive. it is supurisingly quiet! It sounds good. no oil leaks. now to finish the vacum lines and go by the interface for the ecu and the laptop. then get some AFR numbers with WBO2 and figure out how to plug them in. Hopefully I can have all that done so when the rain stops I can go out there and get some boost
Excellent, Ben. It looks really nice &, hopefully, it goes like a bat outta hell too.
cool
All I can say is GOT BOOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 still grinning. Now to fine tune
Good job! Look forward to the results!
Doug |
looking at all of this is making me question my descision to go for turbo style numbers with a high reving 3.5L...
but damn to i like ben's work...i expect his muffler to sound amazing. |
how much?
What kind of HP are you anticipating from this setup?
280 ish maybe with some tweaking 330i-350?? I will put an intercooler on shortly but I want to get it set correctly first before going to cutting up my deck lid
i saw the old Protomotive specs for their regular Stage 1 and noticed that it didn't have a cooler. I would be somewhat hesitant to run any turbo without an intercooler.
intercoolers a required above 7 psi. I believe the 76 930s had no intercoolers on those 3.0
hmmm.....the "improved" Protomotive Stage 1 kit runs at 7 lbs and has an intercooler. That might explain that.:D I haven't decided whether to go the crazy spending turbo route or the crazy spending 3.4l big bore Euro-compression, Webcam, ported, mass flow, etc, etc. NA route. either way, it's a ways off.
turbo can be had a bunch cheaper then big bore and from what I have tested first hand its pretty linear acceleration. n
Now anyone have pics of there airfilter setup?? I still need to get that figured out. I also think I am going to put the wg further inward to make it disappear a little |
very nice work, get some batteries for the camera. ;o)
More pics to come
well now the fun part tuning! I need to relearn megasquirt and how to import files etc.. but hey it runs
here are some pics. What do you guys suggest for the air filter . I would like to get it in the engine compartment just in case of water etc.. Got any pics of your installs??http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152760857.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152760894.jpg
what about comming up throught the tin closer to the front? like in this. pichttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152788105.jpg
I think that's david's picture |
That last pic is how proto routes their air filter-mine actually does another 90 bend to lay it over on its side behind the throttle body. It'd be a little more cumbersome with a rear mount like Ben's, but workable.
