3.0 engine mod question

If I took at stone stock 3.0 ( in an 83SC ) with CIS and added SSI's and a Monty 2 in 1 out muffler what kind of torque and hp increase should I expect? How about if I added PMO's--any power increase there without intake port mods ?

What is the real bottleneck in the system--CIS, factory exhaust manifolds, 83 model intake ports , stock cams ???

Like to hear from you who have made changes and what was the best combination without changing pistons & cylinders. I also may go to a light flywheel for increased throttle response. Just tell me the real scoop--what works and what is a waste of $$$.

Thanks !!!

Don

Went with a Elgin cheater camset and euro pre muffler. Timed for the high end revs and boattailed the webs. Sachs sport clutch and pressure plate.
Stock P&C (new).
Racing springs and Raceware rod bolts installed for future racing and tuning.

I'd say play with cams and go for a T-bitz without going too radical with the stock engine.

Here's what I got with backdated exhaust and rebuilt Zenith's with 36mm venturis and drilled jets. As you'll note in the thread there should be more power to be had now that I've got my new fuel pump installed.

Thanks Wayne !!!
Just 2 questions--are the S cams enough to make it "fun" or should I go GE20 or 40? I have heard that 964 cams are good too. How would the above fall in order of mild to wild?

Thank you for your time and advice !!!

964 = only good for CIS - they are a relatively weak cam
S cams or Mod S cams = use with carbs

You won't regret it...

I've got whole chapters on this stuff in the Engine Rebuild Book...
