lime green o-ring....where did it come from?

I'm finishing up a project to fix a broken head stud and I have this green o ring left over that was not replaced as part of my V Reinz head set. Where did it come from?

It looks like one of the rings on the oil pump as pictured in waynes books, but
I DID NOT SPLIT THE CASE... so how could that be?

dimensions are

OD 34mm
ID 25.75 mm
wall height 5.88 mm
\wall thickness 4.8mm

Sounds like you have a countershaft oring left over. The dimensions sound about right.

I really do not think that it came in my head set kit. All that stuff was in a separate room and I would go get stuff as I needed it. Anyway, I seem to remember cleaning it up...

IF this is one of the countershaft rings (do you mean the same thing as intermediate shaft?) how would it get out of the motor WITHOUT SPLITTING THE CASE???

And if that did somhow happen, Will I ruin the engine running it like that ....What will happen?

Thing Is, I'm relatively certain that it didn't come in the gasket kit. and I seem to remember cleaning it.

I took it to my factory trained mech this morning, and he says it didint come from my engine, and not to worry. We compared this oring to the ones he had for the oilpump and there not the same size.
