Weber Rebuild - Parts Needed
I've gone to the dark side. Rather than spend anywhere from $ 700 to $ 1000, yesterday I began the rebuild process on my 40IDA3C Webers. I have some experience and am well read thanks to Pat Braden and the Haynes TechBook. The short of it:
1. While removing the main jets one broke in the hole. I was able to EZ out the broken portion but later a drain plug broke in the hole as well. That was also ez outed. Who is the best source for Weber Carb. Parts? 2. Does anyone out there have Weber 40's on a 2.2? If so, please let me know what your carb adjustments are as far as idle and air mixture. This will be a starting point for my tuning process. The easiest way to do it is to count turns until the idle/air screws are completely seated. Any other insight would be great. Happy New Year. It used to be an automatic to say PMO but,I hear, they are no longer selling retail.
Look in the back of Bradens book and you'll find a list of suppliers (one of which is in FL.) Those float bowl plugs are a *****,eh? They are designed to break rather than strip the threads. Note the otherwise usless transverse hole. BTDT. Mine is a 2.4L "T" but,if you like I'll give you the set up for it. Lay some email on me. JPIII |

J P Stein, you say you have 2.7L T with carbs. I have a 2.7L T with mechanical injection. Did you change it out for carbs and if so why. I have had some problems with mine running rich and can not find good books on tuning processes.

I try to stick to what I know.
MFI is not a strong suit(among many things) Thus my off list reply. |
