3.2 starting problem

On my way back from Florida last week, I pulled into a rest area. upon trying to re-start the car, it would not crank. Not that it would crank over and not start, it wouldn't even turn over. I roll started it easily and drove to the next exit where I parked on a hill and turned the car off. I tried to start it again and all was fine.
Question is.. do I look to the starter/solenoid, head temp sensor, or ignition switch first??

I had a similar problem with my Sc It would randomly for no apparent reason not want to crank just a click from the solenoid was all.I cleaned the starter/solenoid wire contacts and the ground strap it solved the problem

I recently removed/cleaned/tightened all my ground connections and starter/battery leads. I also double checked the tightness after I got home thinking I may not have got somethign tight. I can't say that ISNT the cause, but I tried to cover that base. Thanks

You can start your troubleshooting by getting a voltmeter (digital would be better, but any analog meter with 0.5 V resolution at 10-12 V will be adequate) and putting a set of jack stands under the rear, remove the right rear wheel, and check the voltage at the solenoid lead while cranking. If the measured voltage at the solenoid lead is less than 9 V, you need to find out why it is low ... loose connectiopn, corrosion, bad ignition switch, etc. The ground strap at the transaxle and body should also be checked and cleaned/reinstalled.

I suspect rust/corrosion inside the starter, which may be salvagable by disassembling/cleaning and lubricating with a good moly grease. Your present situation is why I keep an extensive set of spares, including a rebuilt starter!
