i just installed my new odessey pc680. This battery is light (16lbs)! so far no problems cranking the car. cold startup in the morning was fine. I really feel the difference with all that weight gone from the front left wheel. I think that the handling is improved. It doesnt make sense why porsche put the original battery there. Any way, weight savings of at least 30LBS!
Cost was 100.00 plus 10 for the battery posts.

Been using mine for a month now with no issues... Old battery was a tank, glad to have lost it.

My 2nd Optima died in a little over 1 year. My mechanic (Tab Tanner) said to "buy anything but an Optima" to replace it.

I installed an Odessey PC680 about 3 months ago. It accounts for 32 lbs of the 400+ lb weght loss for my 87 Carrera. I love it!

I did develop a slight drain on my electrical system, no doubt as the result of removing so many systems from my car. It is a wise idea to get a charger that is suited for the PC680. When they need charging, they have a massive draw that will eat an alternator alive. The old Schumacher charger I had could not recharge my PC680. I, therefore, had to purchase an appropriate charger. It is an ACI (recommended by Odessey). It is really slick and can be left connected to the car for days, months, years if necessary. It was just under $100 and should extend the life of my newley installed alternator.

I installed an Odessey PC680 almost a year ago, no problems yet.

I actually didn't think it would do the job but I'm very impressed. If your a real nut, like me, you can relocate it into the smugglers box. I tell myself this improves handling but for all I know it could compound the rear weight bias.

So now the car handles better up untill it spins wildly out of control.

I installed an Odyssey PC680 this year ago, no problems on the contrary.

Actually I had a fuel pump problem recently and I did crank my engine many time (about 15-20) before it did start.
This little battery did not show any sign of slowing down.

The battery on the driver's side (somewhat) offsets the weight bias toward the passenger by the enormously heavy collapsable spare ....

My dad got me the Odyssey 680 battery, but it doesn't have the SAE terminals, it has a female 6mm opening, so I need to get an adapter kit. Anyone know where to get a pair of these?

Why do you have to get a separate cahrger for the Odyssey? Shouldn't the car's alternator charge any kind of battery?
I also have the Odyssey and rebuilt my alternator. If there is anything wrong with this battery to our stock alternator, can you be a little more detail. I don't want to damage neither my battery nor alternator.

Here's what it looks like:

As a lower-cost footnote, my $39 (sealed lead acid, like the Odyssey) electric wheelchair battery is still going strong.

i had to get these as well. they are pretty specific brass posts with hollow centers and an allen bolt that goes through the center and into the battery. my local battery shop happened to have them. you may have to get them online if you dont have a battery specialty shop near you. 10-12 dollars

also, these batteries can be mounted on their side as well as straight up. leaves more possible options for mounting.

You need a pair of the poles (brass) on the picture below. Any autopart store should have them, could bucks.

You need to replace the steel spare wheel with a BBS Mg 3 piece unit, this way between the PC 680 and the lw wheel you have a nice balance.

There is no compatibility issue as long as your PC680 is fully charged. Your alternator will have no problem keeping the PC680 going as long as everything is "normal".

As I mentioned in my previous post, however, I developed a slight electrical drain related to me deleting a number of electrical systems on my car to reduce weight (alarm, radio, amp, center console, driving lights, etc...). Under these circumstances with my car depleting the PC680's charge after being parked for several days, my alternator would get FRIED from trying to recharge the PC680.

A typical battery charger CANNOT fully charge an Odyssey dry cell battery. Therefore, the car's alternator would work extra hard trying to recharge the battery. This would take a big toll on the alternator and eventually lead to premature failure.

One needs a charger that can provide between 14.2-15 volts during the charge. Moreover, I copied the following information directly from Odyssey's web site: " These chargers, such as the 1.25 amp Battery Tender® from Deltran are not capable of charging a deeply discharged ODYSSEY® battery."

So, for my case, and anyone else using an Odyssey Dry Cell battery that may have a slight drain on their electrical system, it is VERY wise to purchase a proper charger that meets the criteria outlined on Odyssey's web site--or, fry your alternator.
