Rust behind the driver side headlight bucket

Yep, you've heard about them before, and tonight I found the rust myself. The front end was jacked up for a simple ride height adjustment, but the area under the fenders, with more room, looked too bad to leave untouched with all the dirt and stuff. And so I dug in; this is about a half an hour later:

That giant piece is the undercoating and rusted metal fused together that is at least 3/16" thick. There are more bits in the pile, and altogether, pretty much the whole top portion of the headlight bucket "peeled" when I reached in behind the "expansion tank" and pulled on the stuff. It is quite disturbing, as there is no sign of rust whatsoever from the inside with the headlight off. Next time I will pull the reservoir and the expansion tank off to see what's really going on. By the way, that was about 3 lb worth of dirt right there.
