Paint code question ( I searched first)

I was a good boy and searched first ;-)

I have not found any answers in going through page after page of old posts.

My 78 Targa has a paint code of 700-8-2

Anyone have any idea of where to find what that means??

TIA,

The color codes are (from the porsche 911 red book) only the first 3 #'s
700=black

Thanks Herman!
what does the 8 and 2 stand for?

I guess I am not a 100% Pcar devotee, I never heard of the book.

Porsche Crest

1972 paint tag format: XXX - Y - Z

where:

XXX = 3-digit paint code for Porsche AG.

Y = place of paint application ... 9 = Porsche factory, 8 = ??? perhaps Karmann or other coach factory

Z = paint mfr,

1 is for Lesonal
2 is for Glasurit
3 is for Herberts
