What should I do?

Car came back from paint with a new front windshield. The guy painting the car broke it and replaced it. The problem is that it has a newer (78-89)rearview mirror mount that doesn't match the one (74-77) I originally had. Should I take the new mount off? If so, how? Or do I get the newer rearview mirror for the new mount? Where can I get it?

Does the mirror work with the new mount? If your car is not original equipment then be happy he paid for the windshield. If your car is orginal equipment then take it back to the guy that broke it and have him replace the mount with a factory original. Where to get the mount? I dunno. Have you checked our host?

The host has the mirror and I'm not worried about original equipment?

I'd agree with Por_sha911 but add if your mirror doesn't fit the mount, then the painter should either buy an updated mirror if you're ok with that, or replace winshield mount. These are hazards of his business and obviously he seems upfront because of the replacement he provided (not really a choice on his part, though).
