Don't know that this 911is exist.

Hello,
I saw this 911 at the paint shop in Singapore, freshly painted in white pearl.
I was told that it's a limited edition by the B&B (some brothers)
It has all metal body work and a huge tail, over size rear flares and tyres.
Notice the brake, it's 930 with the ruf logo on it.
Anybody can post the better picture or have more details on the car?
Burint

Nope, 928 headlights. Back in the day.... early 80's B+B, stood for Buchmann and Buchmann. They were one of the earliest Porsche tuners that made a big international splash. I remember Road & Track did a decent size spread on a couple of their cars. Their focus was mainly body and interior, but a high level quality(metal work) geared toward their main customers...middle eastern oil sheiks.

I have seen one before. I think back in the day MC Hammer had one built for him. Some other singer was having one built at the same time to be better then Hammer's. Don't remember much more then that. I think from my Road and Track reading it has a RUF engine too.

That's like the one above in the body shop pics. I'm pretty sure though that the 993tt style wing at the bodyshop is not what that BB came with though, it's just not period correct. BB did quite a few targas with a center roof bar ala t-tops that they used for gauges and stereo equipment.

Hi
The TT wing is different, The car I saw is actually got the T-bar targa. The dash (no photo) isn't anything like 5 vdo's porsche.
It has the digital numbers style in the early age.

I will state here and now, so mark this time of 8:02 am 7/14/06 that I predict that two car movements from now (we're in the muscle car one right now) will be 80's "tuner" cars that are exceedingly rare and unique.

B&B's, Stroseks, DP...they'll all be hot collectables. anyone got an Vector kicking around?

That white targa above is pictured in the back of Bruce Anderson's first edition (?) if memory serves. They did a lot of wild stuff with 911s in the '80s.

I believe you're thinking of the Gemballa Avalanche models they used to build with the garish body kits on them.

It's always amazed me how many different tuners and modifications were made to these cars in the name of the flavor of the times.

I maybe be wrong but my buddy had a Gemballa Avalanche back in the late 80's and the B+B was different. I was at a car show in Newport Beach and saw at least one B+B there. I was into DP and Kremer cars back then so I remember many of the different models and stories. I bought my DP935 back in 1991 and always looking for information on these.

My favorite was the B&B Rabbit (Golf?) w/928 running gear.

Chris, I know the car your thinking of. BB may have done a dressed up version of it. They were built by Arntz, who was/still? a big VW/Porsche dealer/distributor. The bodies were completely custom made replicas of the series 1 golf/rabbit with complete 928 drivetrain AND interior. About the only unmodified or not custom body panel that was used from the rabbit were the 2 front doors. Everything else including glass was longer and wider to fit the 928 components/proportions. From the side the only telltale if you're familiar with rabbits is that the hood looked just a bit longer than usual, or of course if you saw it parked next to real rabbit. The 928 phone dial rims of the area worked perfectly as rial made similar aftermarket wheel for vw, so look perfect. These are extremely rare as Arntz only built about 50 units. Their target customer being well-heeled German executives trying to maintain a low profile, very German. Arntz previously did a VW bug with 911 engine with the same reserved German skill. I've never seen an Arntz Bug, but I did have the opportunity to see an Arntz Golf at a German car show in 1983, simply the ultimate sleeper. Franco Sbarro, the very wild auto designer/customizer has made some golf series 1/2 based on arntz's concept and taken it to some pretty wild extremes....of course his target audience (middle eastern playboys) like them wild and outrageous

Professional body shop wouldn't be using old newspaper to mask off the body.

Hi, This is an original B+B Targa based on a 1982 or 83 911SC. Have seen the car and met the owner once. The car is not to everyone's taste, with 928ish nose. B+B are the Buchmann Brothers. The rear lights are integrated in the bumper, if I remember correctly.

Quite a "ghetto paintshop" though ....... hahahhaha

I think it's hot... It's unique and doesn't overdo it like the Gemballa stuff. don't be afraid of what you don't understand. Take a step back from an OEM standpoint and look again...It's kinda nice.
