Bought a 1990 964 C4 with 62K in July. My 1st Porsche, literally knew nothing, no PPI, but was from a Porsche shop, so I thought the lemon law would apply.
Have only had to replace the belt sensor, and am tracking down an elusive part time vacuum noise.

Well I bought my '85 M491 off of eBay without a PPI. I guess I gambled. But the car was as described to a tee. I am very happy with my purchase. My wrench (and I) surveyed the car when I first brought it in for a windshield, (stone got it on the road) and the car past a rigorous inspection.

I contacted the previous owner before the dealer got it and flipped it and everything told to me was confirmed. The car had spent it's entire life in a climate controlled garage and the mileage was correct. The truth be told the car is damn near perfect, for real.

I purchased my now track car, '80 SC from a fellow pelican here and got burned with broken head studs that mushroomed into a 3.0 hot rod for the track (insert $$$ here).

Bottom line is it's a crap shoot, but better to do a PPI than not.

I owe many thanks to Tim Holt for my "find".
