dropped a washer inside the engine

guys I was taking out the engine thermostat (PITA) and dropped a very small 2mm washer inside. I tried to grab it and felt it but it slipped away and it went inside the engine. if I drain the engine out whats the chance the washer will come with it.

ouch

I would hate to be in your shoes . I have dropped a washer in the case during reassembly and it was a pain to get it out . I cant emagine it coming out by draining the oil . However it is worth a try . I would also try paraying before hand .

Depending on the washer ...it's not a hardened steel bolt...it'll just get chewed up and come out in the oil after a few thousand miles.

You didn't drop it in the sparkplug hole..

Maby a small magnet on the end of a flexable hose, like some vac line. Just a thought. Good luck

I've tied and glued a small magnet to a piece of fishing line and dropped it into hard to reach places. It takes some fishing but it might work for this.

Just don't lose the magnet too! I have a small flex-snake mounted magnet that has helped out a lot, but it's gotten snagged before during fishing expeditions.

Hopefully with the agitation and flow of the oil, the washer will make it to either a corner, low point, or filter. Is your oil drain plug magnetic?

there are magnets on flex arms that have a cover you can retract to turn it off/on - Griot's has one
