Run flats, anyone use these?

I could/should put this on the Boxster board, but, you know, low traffic. I don't think I'd put run flats on an older 911, but maybe some have. What is your opinion?

However, this is really for the wife's Boxster. As most women, she's mortally afraid of a flat tire. What's more, she works in the harbor, a highly industrialized area with a lot of motoring activity. For instance, her pier is where they unload the Mercedes. (Yes, she's seen the SLR McLaren and the CLK GTR!.)( I wonder what kind of tires it has.) For some reason, there's lots of trash on the ground. All the workers are good for a flat once a month.

So, if you had a 996, 997 or 986-7, would run flats be good? Responsive? Oh, and Tire Rack says the pressure monitoring sensors have to be installed. What about that? They also say only Pirelli makes them in the appropriate sizes.

Not a Porsche, but I had them on my Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S. They were expensive and rode hard. Non-runflats smoothened out the ride considerably.

WOW! Thanks for that tip. The Box is stiff enough as it is. I think my '71 S with 21/26 bars rode better.
