Installing vent window seals?
Hi, I just made my first On-line purchase from Pelican Parts last week! (starting small) I bought a couple various pieces of weather stripping and I haven't been able to find anything anywhere on replacing them. The two seals in question are: the "Fixed vent window" seals and the "Outer window" seal (squeegie). I realize that to get the vent window out I must remove the vent window corner seal to release the two pieces of metal that make up the fixed vent window itself and somehow remove at least one of the two pieces of metal. My question is: is there a way around this? Are there any hints that I should know about? Ect.
And as to the window squeegie. . . I haven't a clue as to how to get it out. . .so any imput would be apperciated. Leland ____79 SC Targa |

My car is a coupe, so there may be some differences.
The window squeegy seal is probably the same. It is attached to the metal trim piece that is attached to the door. This metal piece is simply pressed into place with clips. To remove it, CAREFULLY pry it up, starting at one end of the metal strip. Use a piece of wood or a screwdriver wrapped in a rag. When you get the metal trim piece off the car, you just slide the new squeegy in. As far as the vent window, I'm not sure on the targa. But if its like the coupe, you need to take the door panel off, unbolt the window frame, and at least lift it up out of the door high enough to remove the window and seal. Targas may be different.
