Some number decoding help, please

A suspiciously-priced 1973 911S

VIN 9113103237
Engine serial: 6107889

As I read it, the VIN means it's a 911T. But I don't have any guide for the engine #, and the seller clames he can't locate the internal engine type that's near the serial number.

Any help out there?

I have a "Porsche Family Tree" guide from the PCA and it indicates the following:

1973 911T Coupe S/N 9113100001-9113101252
Engine 6130001-6131926

911S Coupe S/N 9113300011-9113301430
Engine 6330001-6332231

The engine number listed -# 6107889 I found for the following!

1970 Karmann Coupe Engine # 6105001-6107999

Something smells about that car!

Huey is correct...

The VIN indicates a 73"T"
The engine # is for a 70"T"

Run away from this car... has no collector value at all.

From the two spec. books the seller has a 1973 911T Coupe with a 1970 'T' engine in it, not a direct 'swap' in terms of electrical or plumbing between the 'version' of the 'T' engine, the '73 having either MFI or CIS, starting with January 1973 production. The veracity of a seller in in question here as the owner's manual has the VIN and engine number information in it. Unless, of course, the seller was duped in his acquisition. If you are truly looking for an 'S' you don't want this car, as it never was, and cant be, an 'S', and the performance level difference is quite dramatic and measureable! You may want to query the seller again, just to 'test' his honesty and inform him that his car is NOT as advertised and the data from the factory 'Technical Specification' books for the '73 and '70 models refutes his claim of the car model and engine version! If he insists that the car has 911S emblems on it, the car is bogus, by intent, not just an 'accident' typed in an ad ... that could happen, but seller should admit it.

All right, someone suggested to me that both the 1970 911 2.2T serial numbers, and the 1978 911SC both had serial numbers that start with 61xxxxx. Is it possible (since I can't physically inspect the engine at this time) to figure out whixh one it is?

OK, the duplicate engine numbers are 10 years apart, so the 610xxxx series could possibly be from a 1980 SC engine.
