Idle problem 82' SC
Hi all,
For the past few weeks, I have experienced a rough idle when starting my 82' 911 SC. To get rid of the problem, I would accelarate to about 2k RPM and then it would go back to normal. Now, I am experiencing this problem intermittently when driving the car. Could this be a warmup regulator problem? Please advise, ruben |

Ruben,
I need more info to give you the best advice. Does the problem happen only when she's cold,or, after she warms up ? How many miles of her/how many since tune-up? Has she been sitting up ? How about your gas ? old gas maybe ? dirty fuel filter ? warm-up reg is mainly idle speed when cold. |

Chuck,
My '76 911S, when cold, will have rough idle(or idle hunting) where it will go up and down, up and down, from 900rpm, to about 1800rpm. After about 1 minute 15 seconds, it stops and the engine runs smoothly. Is it time I replaced the warm up regulator? Thanks. Jeff 1976 911S |

Jeff,
I am not that up on the 2.7 but in my 3.0 I had that problem and the warm-up regulator solved it. |

Chuck,
The problem seems to occur when the car is cold. Its been about 1000 miles since the last tuneup and the gas is not questionable since the problem occured with two different tanks of gas. One fact I forgot to mention is that my idle problems occured when it was raining. I'm thinking that something is getting wet. What I'm experiencing in the mornings may be condensation build up which dries off after the car warms up. The car runs fine now. But I'm sure that when it rains again, I will experience the same problem. Any thoughts, thanks ruben |
