pics of longhood cars with black trim!
Hi Guys,
Could people please post pics of longhood cars with black trim? I am backdating my car, and to me it just doesn't seem right without the chrome trim. The project car is marine blue Whether i change the trim or not, the stock flag mirrors have to go. If i stayed with black, i can go to something like these mirrors. ![]() Does anyone know where they are sold? And do they fit over the existing flag mirror holes? I know that going to the older style chrome mirrors will need filling. Thanks a lot! Adam

I don't have pictures on this computer, but I like the blacked-out trim on my silver longhood. Contrasts nicely with silver, and gives a real clean look.
Pictures later. |

I blacked my trim out. I had flag mirrors on it, but removed them and replaced them with a more vintage looking mirror just on the driver's side. I did have to weld up all the holes from the flags. Not sure what my mirror came from originally.
Much of my trim was really beat up so I removed it all, bead blasted it and painted with Krylon semi-flat black. It looks perfect and has held up fine for years. ![]() ![]()

Also, forgot to mention. All the cars above look great. I've always loved the trim in black.

project 911,
seems liek your mirror is the same as the one in the picture i posted... seeing as you had to fill in the flag mirror holes... then i might as well just buy the chrome mirrors

I'd lose the black trim on this one, but I fear the trim might have been at least scuffed for paint adhesion.
:-( ![]() BTW: turbo tail and late bumper have been replaced with RS pieces since this photo; wheels changed to red centered 15" Fuchs.

Dutchie, is that car yours? That is one of the top 3 most beautiful cars I have seen posted on the PP boards. I love, love, love the flat black. That is sick. So I would guess it has been backdated> what is the scoop?
Cheers. and more pics please. |

Adam, here is a blue and silver treatment...
Yet Another Boring Hot Rod Rgruppe Car - Part V, Exterior & Paint I do like the sinister all black cars of Dutchie & Jack Olson however.

Actually, jack olsens car has silver trim..
But i agree that the black trim looks good too on a lot of colours. Especially the light ones that were posted above. On a blue car, i think chrome is the way to go, but thats just my opinion. That's why we all have porsches, so we can do whatever the f*** we want! =D

Perhaps a stupid question, but is it possible to do this in any reversable way? I love all the chrome on my 72, but some of those pics with the black trim look really fine! But I'm not 100% positive I'd like it, so I'd want to be able to reverse it.
Thanks. Chris
